Felt Food!

I am currently obsessed with making felt food for Josie.

I really don't like the look and feel of plastic toys; especially when it comes to play food.

I also don't like the price tags on some of the felt food sets you find online.

After browsing through Pinterest, I was inspired to make my own felt food for the JBird (if you follow me on Pinterest, you can check out a whole bunch of tutorials under my "Handmade Toy" board).

Surprisingly, it's much easier than I thought it would be! I think the most difficult part was drawing and cutting a template.

My first piece of felt food was a simple carrot. I added some detail to the body. I plan on making a few more carrots (using a different template each time), until I find one that I love.

I am planning on making a few more pieces this weekend: a pear and an apple

My goal is to have a whole Farmer's Market set finished by Easter; so Josie can get an Easter basket full of Fruits and Veggies! Once I conquer fruits and vegetables, I plan on tackling cookies, cakes and pastries (and there's a funky felt Chinese Takeout Carton that I want to make too).
