Weekend Plans

Whenever I start to type a blog post, JBird cries. I think it's a sign that I wasn't cut out to be a diligent blogger...at least that's the excuse I tell myself when I'm wasting hours on Facebook instead of typing up a post.

I digress...

This weekend we are going to our friends' cabin. I have no idea where in Wisconsin we're going but all I know is that I am unbelievably excited. I'm so excited that I can't stop coming up with things to bake and bring along with us. It's turned into an unhealthy addiction. Some people like meth; I prefer baked goods. At least with baked goods I get to keep my teeth. I like my teeth.

Here is my tentative list of items I plan on making for our getaway:

-Chocolate Chip Cookies (who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies?)
-Blueberry Muffins (a tasty morning, afternoon, evening and anytime treat)
-Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies (Shout out to Joy the Baker on this one)
-Puppy Chow (woof)
-Flour-less Chocolate Cake (because it's Nancy's fave AND because I'm pretty awesome)
-Honey Whole Wheat Bread (I'd be lying If I said this WASN'T for me to eat in the car on our way there)

Ok..I think that's everything. I will literally spend my entire day baking on Friday. JBird is going to be beyond pissed....but she can deal. I hardly ever bake because it's usually only Tim and I who eat the end products (and we really don't need to be consuming dozens of cookies a week...at least that's what my butt tells me)

There's a VERY good chance that only one or two of my list items will actually come to fruition. However, my goal is to have a trunk full of goodies for this weekend's festivities.

**on a side note: I really wanted to title this post "Let's Get Baked!" but deemed it inappropriate (albeit wildly hilarious) since my grandparents read this. In hindsight, they probably would've found it equally hilarious (once it was explained)**

Mother's Day 2011

Finally! A good picture of me and my JBird!
This past Sunday, we celebrated my first "official" Mother's Day. Technically, we made a whole weekend out of it (because we love any excuse to drag a holiday on for as long as humanly possible). Tim bought me:

a set of mini spring-form pans

A set of Le Creuset french onion soup crocks...in 4 different gorgeous colors none the less.

AND a funny little book called "Sorry I Peed On You"

We also planted an herb garden, went out to breakfast on Saturday at our new favorite breakfast joint: Hubbard Avenue Diner, AND had the best Mother's Day dinner ever: take-out Indian food! *drool*

Lookin' Good...Lookin' Real Good

I can honestly say it was my best Mother's Day day yet :)
