An Exciting Discovery

Over the past few weeks I've been keeping everyone updated on all the crazy changes happening as a result of this pregnancy. Yesterday I'm pretty sure I made my most exciting...and kind of gross discovery!

For over 12 years now I have had a Plantar's Wart on the ball of my foot. We tried everything to get rid of it over the years. Had it frozen off twice. Tried various salves and balms. Even wrapped my foot in duct tape...but the wart refused to leave. Every month or so I use a pumice stone to get rid as much of the dead skin around it as possible (mainly b/c the giant callous I get on my foot starts hurting if I don't..especially when I wear heels). So last night I was feeling the bottom of my feet(nothing out of the ordinary) and noticed that I could no longer feel the giant wart on my foot. With closer inspection I (and when I cay "I" here I really mean "Tim")could see and feel that the plantar wart was virtually gone. There's still a slight bump on my foot but it feels more like the remainder of dead skin that just needs to get pumiced down. Crazy. I googled it and apparently some women notice that warts they've had for years go away with pregnancy! It might come back...but I'm still pretty darn excited about this new discovery!

I really wish I had before and after pictures to post because it's just so unbelievable.

Spring has Sprung?

Happy doesn't quite describe the way i'm feeling at the moment...let's go with really happy! (I thought that was really funny). The nasty brown snow pile outside our apartment is almost completely melted! I am more than a little excited for warm weather and green grass. I know that March and April have a nasty habit of sneaking one last streak of cold days in before the official start of spring/summer BUT I am hopeful that won't happen this year. I think I said it best yesterday when the temperature was upward to 60 degrees "this weather makes me want to run around in the parking lot; screaming and flailing my arms with joy" (I didn't actually do that...just thought about it).

Now on to the details of the first trimester. On Monday we will be 9 weeks into this pregnancy, which means I have almost survived the first trimester! Here are some general observations about my changing body thus far:

I need a solid 12 hours of sleep in order to NOT gag all the live long day (yesterday I only got about 7 hours of sleep and felt like I was going to yak all day)

I don't sleep through the night anymore. I'm up at least 3 times a night because I either can't get comfortable or because i'm crazy hungry. It sucks. I'm the type of person where as soon as my head hits the pillow i'm out like a light until my alarm goes off. Not anymore. The other night I was up once an hour all night
My face has broken out like crazy. I have never had so much acne on my face. Not even exaggerating! All around my mouth and chin...it's like a beard of pimples. Luckily I can cover it up pretty well with makeup.

I've also noticed that when strangers find out i'm pregnant they feel the need to give me really strange advice OR really obvious advice. I usually just smile and nod...hoping that they'll stop talking to me. Here are some of my favorite pieces of "advice" thanks to customers in The Shoppingtown Mall:

"You know that baby eats everything you do, so don't be eating no junk. When I was pregnant I put Corn Syrup on everything in order to keep it down" (hmm...kind of defeats the purpose of healthy eating)

"You know, pregnancy is broken down into trimesters. The fifth trimester was my favorite" (umm...fifth? really?)

"Make sure you get your husband to do everything for you now...because that will never happen again..trust me" (my favorite part: her husband was standing next to her shaking his head in agreement)

Ahh...how I love people who don't use their brains.
