Sometimes I find myself dwelling on the past, or stressing about the future. Honestly, there's really nothing to dwell on OR stress over BUT I still find myself doing it from time to time.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about what the next few years have in store for us. Now that Josie is (almost) a year old, we're trying to figure out when we'd like to have another baby. Should we keep them closer in age? Should we let her be an only child for a few more years? (These are both rhetorical questions and I'm really not looking for answers or input). Also, we know it's a very real possibility that we might be transferred to Delaware (in 2-3 years time). I cannot emphasize enough how much we love Madison and the thought of leaving is pretty heartbreaking. Besides that, I just don't fare well in hot and humid climates :)
Needless to say, these thoughts have been running through my mind over the past few weeks (ok, that's a lie...I've been thinking about this for months now).
Today, I received an email from a blog that I'm subscribed to (Simple Mom). The post was all about "cutting the bungee cords" (so to speak). When you keep yourself tethered to the past or focus too much energy on what the future has in store, you're missing out on the present. Also, when you're constantly obsessing over the past or the future, you end up harming the ones closest to you (since you're not really thinking about them and what they might need *now*). Simply put: stop dwelling, start living.
Umm, yea...I needed to hear that. Message received, universe!
Now, I feel at ease. If we move, we move. We'll have a baby, when we have a baby. No worries. (Now, let's see if I still feel this way tomorrow).
What a great lesson from "Simple Mom" I for one stress about everything....
ReplyDeleteAs far as moving, The selfish side of me would love to have you all closer to us, but I also want you all to be happy where you live..
I will say, having been a resident of Delaware, it IS beautiful, so long as you have really good working air conditioning. If it's not raining or snowing the sun is always shining! That is one thing I loved about the place. Also, it's a very friendly state.
ReplyDelete(Been doing too much of that stressing myself lately...thanks for the reminder...)
